It uses the numerical simulation by finite element method to calculate and validate the design of systems with lamellar settling. Through computational fluid dynamics calculation with commercial programs, we have determined the distribution of the water flow and speed, the possible presence and location of turbulence and recirculation zones, identification of areas where there will be sedimentation depending on the type of snowflake and suspended particles, predicted in lamellar seals, etc.. With this strategy, we evaluate the efficiency of these systems preliminary design of settling.

Lamellar settling systems aim to accelerate the sedimentation of suspended solids (eg clays) carrying the water and that impair further processing.
