The last few weeks have been pretty convoluted to Facebook. has been accused of collaborating with the U.S. government supposedly to spy on its users, and has recognized the existence of a bug that has sent voluntarily to other personal details six million users. But that does not seem to affect the Internet giant, which is premiering services like video support on Instagram.
Now, in an entry on the official blog of the social network, Dan Levy, Director of the Small Business Administration announces that Facebook has reached one million advertisers, most of them belonging to the small business. Data refer to active companies have hired advertising in the last month. There is a record for an Internet company since Google reached this figure in 2007, but keep in mind that Facebook is a social network where people looking for relationships, while Google is a search engine more focused on locating information, often directly related purchases or businesses that offer their advertisers.
According to the company reveals Forbes, Facebook has reached the two million million connections between users and small businesses. 70% of American users contact local businesses through the network.
To show the benefit which is to advertise with them, Facebook Spain has a website where actual data collected testimonies and small businesses have increased their sales and customer base to advertise there.
This is data that, from the point of view of business, are positive for Facebook, but not relevant to the billions of network users seeking mainly personal and family contacts, and are not interested in advertising.
