Facebook: Facts six million accounts were exposed by security flaw


A security flaw in Facebook exposed the personal contact information (e-mail or telephone number) peronas six million other users who would be associated with them, as TechCrunch reported .

This fault has been affecting the above accounts for a year, Yahoo said today . They said that "no evidence has been made malicious use" of this error.

"When people upload their contact lists or address book to Facebook, we try to match that information with the contact information of other users to generate recommendations 'friends'" said Facebook security team.

"Due to the failure, a part of the information used to make recommendations from friends, and reduce the number of invitations sent, was saved-without warning-with contact details of people as part of their information on Facebook" , continues the statement.

"As a result, if a person downloads a file on your own Facebook account through the Download Your Information, e-mails would have found additional or telephone numbers belonging to his 'friends' or other people that are related on Facebook ".

The security team said that has not been provided any type of financial information and, in most cases, e-mails and phone were exposed to a single person.

Have not received complaints from users and regulators in the United States, Canada and Europe, where the accounts affected, have already been notified.
